Adopting a Dog

• Contact the Lee County Animal Pound on 276-346-7710 to check that the dog you are interested in is still available.
• Adoptions from Lee County Animal Shelter are free, however, you are REQUIRED to have the dog spayed/neutered. You must sign an Adoption Agreement, and a Spay/Neuter Agreement
• Adoption of dogs is open to residents with homesLee, Scott, Wise, Russell, Washington County areas of Virginia.
• Adopters must sign a sterilization agreement to have the adopted pet spayed or neutered within 30 days of adoption.
• Adopters must return the proof of sterilization paperwork within seven (7) days of dog being spayed or neutered.
• Dogs that have been spayed/neutered are available for adoption to anyone including out of state residents.
• State law requires that all dogs and cats be vaccinated for rabies.
